← The tree Where do I start? Massachusetts standards
By Grade
Under five goes by age. From kindergarten on, here is the ColorMyMath ladder by school grade,
matched to the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework for Mathematics (2017) .
The order is ColorMyMath's, because it teaches the basics better: picture first, every direction both ways, speed last.
Where it runs ahead of the state, a step says so and its standard is marked in black.
Under each grade are the rest of that grade's Massachusetts standards, each with the game that teaches it.
3–4 Before kindergarten ages 3 to 4
Under five goes by age, not grade. Counting to ten, one more and one less, making 2 to 5 and bigger or smaller: Massachusetts puts these in kindergarten; ColorMyMath starts them at three, with the picture first.
Play in this order Steps 1–6a of the ColorMyMath ladder
Step 1 Adding 1 up to 5: counting to 5 One More, One Less
Step 2 Subtracting 1 from 5 to 0: counting back from 5 Subtraction
Step 3 Making 2, 3, 4: 1+1, 1+2, 2+2, 3+1 Five and Under
Step 4 Adding 1: counting to 10 Counting to 10
Step 5 Making 5: 4+1, 3+2 Five and Under
Step 6 Subtracting 1: counting back from 10 I Can
Step 6a Bigger and smaller Line Them Up
